About Us

The developers E W Rottges and E  A Appleton started a research program 30 years ago. Four years of intensive development produced an extremely compatible amalgam to the market.

1987 Amalgam Alloys received the prestigious SABS mark. With continous upgrading of the international standards we achieved CE accreditation together with ISO 9000 and ISO 13485 in 2002 and are very proud of these, says EW Rottges.

With this quality Assurance we compete with the biggest and best manufacturers in the world.

Today we export to the UK, Turkey, Iran, Saudi Arabia, The Kingdom of Jordan, Taiwan and many African countries.

Our local distributors have proudly represented us over many years.

Continously striving to be the best – our amalgams have been tested in Canada, USA, UK and Australia at leading Universities.

A three year study at Medunsa in both in-vivo and in-vitro was conducted by the late Dr. W J van der Merwe under the supervision of the well known Professor F A de Wet, Faculty of Dentistry, University of Pretoria.

The conclusion of the clinical testing resulted in:

  1. The clinical performance of the two South African Amalgams compared favourably with that of the imported amalgams, Dispersalloy and Permite C.
  2. Amalgaphase performed favourably in most of the categories in comparison with the control product, Dispersalloy and better than Permite C in all the categories.
